What I did this week #1
My three main work projects
- Building my first iPhone app, ListAssist [working title]
- Moving data storage from local to cloud using Supabase
- Making the app feel 'live', even with increased load times with
- Sourcing deals for our real estate company
- Attended a networking/conference event for a corporate tenant
- Have a viewing scheduled for Wednesday
- Automating manual work for my wife's business
- Honestly, this has just been a lot of fun
- These single player personal software apps are awesome
In addition to these projects, I might be able to do some intermittent freelance consulting, which could take over my entire day/week for periods at a time. As an aside, I might keep a log with more technical updates for the app and automations, separate to these general updates.1
And some personal updates
- I'm an uncle, again!
- We welcomed baby Sienna into the world on March 1, 2025. She's an angel.
- We bought a car
- Proud owners of a (very nearly) new Toyota Yaris Cross.
- It's great to have our own vehicle for getting around. This has already helped us feel a lot more independent than when we were borrowing cars and getting lifts.
- I wish there were more cars like this in the US; affordable small-ish SUVs that drive smooth, reliable, and insanely fuel efficient
- We're going on an official honeymoon
- We're spending two weeks on the Canary Islands, where we'll be staying in two very unique homes on Gran Canaria and La Palma
- ... And we're all ill.
- The whole house. Down and out. It's put a real damper on things, but we will overcome!
What's this update for?
It's been about a month since I quit my job and left the US.
Life has been super busy. It feels like Thida and I haven't caught a break in a long time. Since getting back to the UK, things have been hectic: getting settled, unpacking, and spending time with family. And even before that, preparing for the move was its own project. But recently I've been getting back into some work projects.
The days keep passing and it's been hard to know where the time goes.
So, I'm going to keep a weekly log of what I've been up to to help with planning, but also recognise the progress we're making.
Stay tuned!
